Thanks Diane!

The new year is bringing so many changes! This month Diane Jacobson McGee has decided to step down as our organization’s president and retire from the Robbinsdale Historical Society’s Board of Directors. Diane has spent over a decade devoting countless hours as an advocate and administrator. On her watch, the historical society’s number of dues-paying members tripled, major improvements were made to display space at the museum and the organization leapt into the digital age. If you are now serving or have ever served on the Robbinsdale Historical Society’s Board of Directors, chances are Diane recruited you. If you’ve ever visited the museum on a Friday or attended a historical society event, Diane gave you the warmest welcome. In addition to presiding over board and membership meetings, Diane has coordinated our participation in the annual Whiz Bang Days Celebrations, Robbinsdale Meet and Greets and the city’s Quasquicentennial events. She has built relationships between our organization, Hennepin History Museum and other local history groups. Diane has lent her time and talents to everything from picture framing to accounting. Her contributions really are too many to count! During her term, she has touched, tidied and improved every corner of the Robbinsdale Historical Society. Volunteering time and efforts to something you care about is one of the easiest ways any of us have to enrich our own lives. The thing that makes it so wonderful is the way it enriches the lives of everyone else. Thank you Diane for making such a difference! Once we get everybody their shots, we hope to see you, more often than not, at membership meetings and among the irregulars on Friday mornings.
