The Robbinsdale Historical Society’s next monthly meeting, Tuesday, October 22, at 1:00 pm, will focus on PRISM, a nonprofit organization founded in 1970 by folks who were concerned about hunger and homelessness among local families. Guest speakers are PRISM staff members Alisha Olson and Kevin Lytle.
PRISM provides social services and connections that empower people in the northwest suburbs to build healthy, stable lives. What started as a small, informal effort has since evolved into a strong, sustainable organization that is considered a leading provider of basic needs services in our community. PRISM serves children, adults, and seniors who reside in Robbinsdale, Crystal, New Hope, Golden Valley, or Plymouth (east of 494).
With headquarters in Golden Valley, PRISM’s services include the Marketplace Food Shelf and Shop for Change Thrift Shop, as well as children’s programs, housing assistance programs, and more.
Everyone who attends is encouraged to bring nonperishable food or personal care items to donate,
or to participate the Holiday Toy Drive by bringing
a new, unwrapped toy for PRISM’s upcoming distribution to over 1,000 kids in the community.
The event takes place at the Museum in the historic Robbinsdale Library, 4915 42nd Ave. N. (at the intersection of 42nd/Rockford Road and Railroad Ave.). Everyone is welcome; admission is free and refreshments are served.
