In 1890 the Village Treasurer, John Trump built a general store on the corner of 42nd and West Broadway. A couple of years later he enlarged the store and sold hardware in half of it. In 1896 he bought this feed mill for $850. Trump served on the fire department. His bulldog used to follow the fireman to every fire. He is probably best remembered for his boat landing on Twin Lake. Bait, oars, and poles were available at his store. Mrs. Trump was a charter member of the Library Club and the first president of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society. Mr. Trump died in 1927. His son John served as Village Clerk for 8 years.
