Membership Meeting of October 25th,2016
The meeting open with the Pledge of Allegiance
Secretary Carolyn Lageson gave a brief outline of our last meeting.
Treasurer Dean Cummings was unable to be present
Diane Jacobson McGee said there had been a great deal of news about the Save the Terrace committee. It was hoped we would end up with the theater building ready to be re-purposed as an asset once again to this community. That was not to be. A group of preservationists put together a fundraiser to be held at the lodge in Robbinsdale to cover expenses. Date Saturday, November 5 from 6 PM to midnight.
Roger Gray’s family is donating a new flag in Stanton our society thanks to the family
Thanks to Corrine Jones for taking care of the coffee and treats which are provided by Betty Olson and Rollie Haywood.
Volunteers are needed for future meetings Dodi Dougherty and Betty Anderson helped at the sign in table.
The program for this meeting was introduced. Wally Langfellow, Robbinsdale grad, owner/publisher of SCORE sports magazine and anchor/reporter for Twin Cities radio AM1440 KYCR. Wally gave a very interesting account of what happened when Pearle Vision made a trip to a small country in West Africa to fit 10,000 eyeglasses which led to the starting of baseball teams for children in this country Wally and friends sent equipment coaches and began the clearing of a baseball field probably the highlight for these kids was a trip to Robbinsdale Minnesota where they stayed at local church and saw a Twins baseball game.
Approximately 40 people attended the meeting
