Andrew B. Robbins youngest daughter, Esther Mary Robbins was born on June 26, 1889. She had brown hair and brown eyes like her mother. Esther grew up in the big house on Twin Lake. She often said she felt sorry for her father because he had five daughters, but no surviving sons so she tried to fill the role of son as best she could. She asked that her night shirts be made like his, told everyone she hated frills and ruffles and and complained about the curls in her hair. She climbed every tree and roof on the property and liked to spend time a little the platform atop the windmill. She also loved school and was proud of her rather original 8th grade graduation paper, The Diary of a Dog.
Esther Robbins married William Wright Scott in 1911. The couple eventually settled in the Lowry HIll neighborhood of Minneapolis. Scott became a well-known insurance agent and founded the Lincoln National Life Insurance Agency in Minneapolis. The snippet form the October 29th, 1937 Minneapolis Tribune society page indicates Esther’s love of dogs continued well into adulthood.
