In 2007 graphic designer Karen Laukkonen started her website to advocate for the preservation of Highway 100’s remaining roadside parks, and to document the seven original parks.
Since then, she has extensively photographed and reported the history of the 12.5-mile stretch of Highway 100 known as “Lilac Way.”
The Graeser Park poster commemorates MnDOT’s historic preservation of the picnic area and rock garden in Robbinsdale’s historic park. With ten rebuilt stone picnic tables, new ADA features, the refreshed rock garden, and the restored beehive fireplace, Graeser Park has been deemed eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
The National Register, administered by the National Park Service, is the official list of the nation’s historic places that are worthy of preservation.
Now you can display your love for Graeser Park and Lilac Way by purchasing one or more of these posters in four original designs. Buy three and get the fourth for free. Posters can be picked up in St. Louis Park at no charge, or shipped to you by USPS (charges calculated at checkout).
