Adelaide Robbins Gillette is a daughter of Andrew Bonney Robbins and Adelaide Walker Robbins, Robbinsdale, Minnesota.
Her musical education began at an early age with study of violin, superseded by pianoforte and vocal training. Preparatory schooling was received at East Minneapolis High School. At University of Minnesota she specialized in philosophy, psychology and modern languages, and graduated with degree of B. A.. 1902. She was married in 1903 to Ralph Perkins Gillette, Minneapolis. Since the death of her husband in 1912 Mrs. Gillette has managed her estate making possible maintenance of her home and education of her son, Lewis Robbins Gillette, and has continued active studies in Graduate Department of University of Minnesota. Mrs. Gillette has won distinction as a writer in the fields of Psychology, Political Science, and Music, for her pamphlet on “The Psychology of Music,” her brochure on “The Housing Laws of California,” and her thesis on “Railroad Securities as an Investment.” She has traveled extensively in America and on European Continent and has wide knowledge of German, French and Italian. She is now engaged in a special training course at University of Minnesota for Governmental work. Mrs. Gillette is a member of the Hennepin Methodist church.
